FONEMZ® Speak & Read is a fun, interactive way to learn to speak, spell and read!

By using the new FONEMZ app, sounds are first learned individually, then combined in single syllable combinations, moving to words having three sounds. Soon, a student can sound out combinations of sounds to make any word!

Not all people learn well by listening. Some people need visual cues in conjunction with speech sound production in order to identify and remember the sound. FONEMZ uses a different color and a unique shape to represent each of the forty main sounds in Standard American English.

FONEMZ can be used with all ages:
• Toddlers
• Preschoolers
• Elementary Students
• Middle and High School students
• Adults

FONEMZ benefits many populations, including students with:
• Apraxia/dyspraxia
• Dyslexia
• Phonological disorders
• Deaf and hard-of-hearing
• Down syndrome
• Autism spectrum disorder
• Aphasia
• English language learners
• Any individual with speech sound disorders

FONEMZ is an evidence-based, multimodal program for teaching speech sound production, phonological and phonemic awareness, and literacy skills. It is based on the widely accepted concept that learning to pronounce sounds in order to speak is more important than letter identification. Understanding that words are made up of individual sounds is more important than learning the letter names.

The FONZABET®, which is introduced in this app, consists of orthographic letter and letter combinations that are color coded to match the 40 sounds of English, the same as the FONEMZ! This is an easy bridge from learning to say words, to learning to spell and read words.

What makes FONEMZ such a great tool for speaking and reading is that you quickly learn to sound out words in a left-to-right pattern, and then it is an easy step to match the colored letters, using the FONZABET, to the sounds (FONEMZ) that make up the word.
